Ah ha! but whatif the five have oyster cards? Then its £4 bus and possibly £6.50 by blackcab depending on traffic of course. You’re a mug if you still pay £1.50 for a bus journey.
three are drivers that live within the congestion area and use a bus less than twice a year… the fourth is my sister in law who is 8 1/2 months pregnant… I wouldnt have let her on a bus anyway.
and as for Mugs I think the whole of london is a Mug for putting up with un-red Ken for so long.
…but who would you have instead, hmmm? As to your first point though as you’ve now said none would take the bus anyway, so where’s the comparison? I’d vote Ken in again no problem given the alternatives are Stephen Norris. London’s a far better place with a mayor, though a few more real powers would be nice as HMG doesn’t want a rival powerbase so close to home.
since the congestion charges my Dad can no longer take my uncle to hospital as it is in the Zone, when the extension comes in he wont be able to visit me anymore… or even my uncles home as we will be in the Zones. the cost of every thing has risen or been given a new tax. It totally sucks if you are unfortunate enough to be on befits or studying as most of the people I know - there is no allowances for us.
I cannot afford to spend money on a pay as you go bus pass its that simple. In order to even get one that cuts me back enough in my budget to make a difference to my finances. I understand for most people thats not the case… but surely it SUCKS that a cab is cheaper than the bus no???
How can a pay as you go oyster card be more expensive when a bus journey costs £0.80 and not £1.50. its cheaper period. If the Mayorw whomever he/she might be were allowed to run the trains too we wouldn’t have the stupid situation where Oyster cards are not allowed for trains journeys. A cab starts at almsot £2, so a cab can never really be cheaper as the bus is a flatrate whatever the distance and of course you can take the bendibuses and not pay at all if you want. I realise the CC has not been a plus for all and i respect your views and clearly the is personal for you. However, for London as a whole traffic is down during CC times (though weekend traffic is of course up ;-)
Oyster card.. 3 pound plus whatever you top it up with.. so thats like 15 quid right?
Now.. take that out of a meagre budget.. for example I study, I get 50 a week to live on - and there goes half the food budget… of course I understand this could possibly be a one off payment to cover a number of weeks - but its 15 pounds I DONT have. and thats the case for 50% of my class.
I’ve oftern had as little as 80pence on my card. Whats the £3? is that the initial start up amount? After that you can top it up as you need, with payments as little as a £1 from machines in tube stations and of course you cando the same at newsagents. It is cheaper once you start using it, thats a fact. the fares are lower and the card is free. Where’s the extra cost? The £ you put up front (£3) is a down payment, a deposit. This is not a fee. You say you get £50 a week, so how do you travel? By cab? Thats more (plus london cabs are THE most expensive per mile in Europe bar none). Do you take the bus and pay £1.50 a ride? Are you worried that big brother is tracking your movements?
