Tube Rats

Bizarrely, this is an ongoing conversation at my workplace this morning – whether or not super-sized ‘tube rats’ exist. We’ve all seen the (slightly cute) deaf, wee little gray rats scurry around on platforms, but whether or not these two foot long ‘catrats’ are also prowling beneath us is a different question.

Fortunately, the internet is out there to help us settle issues like this, or, at least to further confuse them.

The ever-reliable Fortean Times refers to them (and to, weirdly, ‘tube pigs’. Anyone?!)

And, interestingly, there’s a whole web page dedicated to animals on the tube. Except it’s generally more family-friendly fare, like pigeons that travel to Stamford Bridge, and dogs that use Oystercards.

Anyone ever seen a gigantic catrat? Or a tube pig?
