No more Pie & Mash.
There are times when you suddenly discover something has gone and you feel that life is now just that little bit poorer. I was only a few minutes ago telling a friend that she should go to Greenwich for the famous pies. Not knowing exactly where it was I searched the web and found these words staring out at me ..
We are sorry to say that Goddard’s Pie House in Greenwich has now closed.
116 years of history gone. A sad sad day.
I saw their closing-down sign the other day. Sad, indeed. I loved this place… and I’m a vegetarian! Sort of on the bright side, at least they were closing for their own reasons — some kind of family problem, they said — and not because an evil property developer was pricing them out of the area. Don’t know why I take some solace in that, but I do.
Manzies in Peckham is still going strong, though.
Family reasons = burger chain taking over.
Very sad.
