A Homage to Custard Creams

Lately the supermarket seems to have been over run with groovy biscuits but in my office we have a soft spot for the custard cream. Actually, it’s more than a soft spot. We get through a pack of custard creams a day. OK, I admit it. We’re addicted to custard creams. For those unfamiliar with the custard cream, it is basically a sweet, milky tasting cookie with a wedge of custard flavoured cream on the inside. Think the English equivalent of an Oreo, only vanilla flavoured. It’s truly yummy. We’ve tried other biscuits – shortbreads, bourbons, even those flavourless tea biscuits but we always come back to Custard Creams.

Why do you suppose shortbread cookies fell short? Is there something about custard creams? Do you bite it directly or chew off a side? As a reformed Oreo cookie eater, I can tell you there’s a technique to eating the Oreao, and the way a person eats the cookie says a lot about his/her character.

What do you suppose the custard cream habit says about your office? :-)

I love these things! I stole some from my office staff, got home, and noticed that I had to order my mcdonalds, so couldn’t eat all the scrummy custard creams I had stolen, gosh I love them so much. I love pea salad too, but not as much as burgers. montel
