Guy Fawkes Night
Did anyone go to a bonfire last night? I had completely forgotten the holiday until well after I had made dinner plans and thus was unable to attend any festivities. In fact, this is my fourth fifth of November here, and I’ve yet to go to a bonfire.
It was also sort of disappointing to hear fireworks going off around us on all sides, but because the area we live in is so urban, the display was blocked by all of the buildings.
So, disappointing bonfire night for me. And I’m slightly vexed that BBC London doesn’t have anything on it. Did anything Guy Fawkes-related (besides the random amateur pyrotechnics) happen in London last night?

Hi Beth
Yeah it was great around here (Hammersmith, river). There were loads of fireworks going on, and at the River Cafe they had a massive bonfire with hundreds of people on the river walk to watch the various firwork displays.
At Bishop’s Park there was an organised display with what felt like the whole local neighbourhood going there.
I took some pictures of it here.
Cheers

Try Blackheath. It’s south of the river (no tube, so maybe you guys on here think it doesn’t count as London) but has an absolutely fabulous firework display.
