I’m going deeper underground
Today the train stopped in the tunnel just outside Victoria. This is a regular occurrence and as I was reading I didn’t even notice. Then all the engines were cut, next the lights went…. only for a couple of seconds but long enough! A baby started crying, some tourists were looking rather nervous and most other people were looking round at each other wondering what was going on.
The engines remained off for about 3 minutes and when they finally did start I heard a man say to his wife “That doesn’t sound healthy at all”. This may have been his mind working over-time as we had just stopped for a rather long time (I know it’s not long in the scheme of things but longer than this would normally happen for) and the lights had died. Anyway I was more than glad to be getting off at the next stop to jump on the District Line (which was delayed, obviously!)
Also if anyone else finds the disused stations of the London Underground interesting have a look here it’s a really good site with excellent photos.
