Boris wins: we look like idiots

We love to mock the Americans for electing the clownish, idiotic George W. Bush: now we can boast the same honour.

By 140,000 votes (of 2,188,738), Boris Johnson is the elected leader of the largest electorate in Britain.

Here’s hoping that he’s neither the fool nor the bigot that he pretends to be. The Guardian calls it “his first really grown-up job“…and we all know how fun it is to work with a newbie.

I welcome your comments, especially disagreeing with me and welcoming a brave new Boris world: I sincerely hope you’re right.

Wish I could disagree. I should probably be more irritated by the fact that he’s a Tory, but it’s difficult to see past the fact that he’s got next to no experience. I mean, what’s he done, apart from fool around on HIGNFY? Edit The Spectator (*snort*), get sacked from being a shadow minister various times, and being ‘MP’ for Henley-on-spiffing-Thames?

Seriously. I’m sure he’s a great bloke, and I’d probably love to go for a drink with him – but I just can’t get my head around the fact that over a million Londoners think that he’s fit to preside over their lives. He doesn’t even bloody live in London!

Goodbye green London, goodbye progressive London, goodbye all measures of sanity.

(p.s. please prove me wrong, bojo)

    It could have been worse.

Mr BNP could have been elected or, even worse, Mr Livingstone could have been re-elected!

davotoula: So do you think Boris is the better of two/three evils? Or di you have a mayoral candidate that you would have preferred to win? Brian or Sian maybe?
